SHEPHERDSTOWN MAN SENTENCED FOR SOLICITATION OF MINORS

A Shepherdstown man was sentenced to two to 10 years in prison for solicitation of a minor. 44 year old Shane Cantrell pleaded guilty to one felony count of solicitation of a minor via a computer, after being accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl in April 2017. He was also accused of sending lewd text messages to the minor, which were discovered by a family member of the victim. A charge of third-degree sexual assault was dismissed as part of the plea deal. In addition to the prison sentence, Cantrell will be required to register for life as a sex offender. Cantrell received a one day credit for time served. He will be eligible for parole consideration after he serves at least two years behind bars.
