The City of Martinsburg has been awarded a grant to cover the costs the “Regrowing Green City” project, and work has begun on it already. It’s part of the more than $965,000 in funding that was provided by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the City of Baltimore Office of Sustainability, in which Martinsburg was awarded $30,000 of the overall funding. Martinsburg officials say it will fund a project to allow the city to address water shed and flooding issues in certain areas, and to employ aesthetically pleasing solutions to the city’s water problems.
