CAPON BRIDGE MAN GETS PROBATION IN FRAUD CASE

A man from Capon Bridge was in Berkeley County Court on Friday, where he was sentenced to five years probation for stealing more than $27,000 from a victim who had hired him for help due to illnesses. 51 year old Christopher Mowery had originally been arraigned on 52 felony charges of forgery and uttering, six counts of forgery and six counts of conspiracy to commit uttering. In a deal with prosecutors, he pled guilty to one felony count of fraudulent schemes. In addition to the five years of probation, the court also ordered Mowery pay restitution.
