WW1 MEMORIAL TO BE MOVED PENDING SALE OF OLD COURTHOUSE

The Berkeley County Council met on Thursday, and among other things, began preparations to refurbish and then relocate a World War I memorial statue that is now on the old federal courthouse property in Martinsburg. That’s because the old courthouse will soon be sold at auction, and the statue could potentially go with the property. If that were to happen, who knows what could happen to the memorial?? Council was approached by local organizations who want to clean it up and move it to War Memorial Park in order to preserve it. Refurbishment could cost somewhere between $10,000 to $15,000.
